Client

SSH Utrecht is a social housing organisation for young people and students, mostly from the university and the various colleges in Utrecht.

Project

Initiated in 2005, ongoing. Visual identity including logo, stationery, folders, cards and signage.

Outcome

The main focus of the concept is ‘individuality versus community’ – meaning several students, with different backgrounds and characters, living together and sharing the same space. The logo is a reflection of this concept. The bright colours in combination with abstract portraits reflect the different personalities and the young spirit of the students. The main logo incorporates three characters, but a complete logo family with a variety of similar portraits was created to emphasize the variety of individuals in the world of student housing.

The design concept allows the client to extend the logo family with new characters, based on actual portraits of students. Thus, each student can be given his or her own SSH logo, thereby encouraging identification with SSH Utrecht.
