Outcome
Items, the leading design magazine of the Netherlands for more than 20 years, covers all fields of cutting edge design and visual communication for a professional audience.
In connection with the magazine’s change of formula, Studio Dumbar was selected to create a new design for Items. Our approach led to a sharper distinction between permanent and variable elements. The typography is sober and in the layout, the use of colour is virtually absent, resulting in greater accent on the illustrations. Fonts created by Dutch designers – often not yet commercially available – are used for leading articles, giving the magazine an added function as a showcase for graphic design.
