Dutch Ministry of LNV

"Design should be enduring and, wherever possible, adaptable. Studio Dumbar designed our identity in 1987, amended and expanded it twice effectively and successfully incorporated two name changes along the way all the while maintaining the communicative strength and integrity of the original design."
-- Michel Berkelmans, Head of Communications
Client
The Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) is responsible for policies governing agricultural and structural land use, including nature conservation and preservation, as well as food quality control in the Netherlands.
Project
Initiated in 1987 (visual identity), 2002 (communication labels).
Outcome
In 1987, Studio Dumbar created a visual identity for what was then known as the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. In the course of 1989-97, Studio Dumbar expanded the ministry’s original identity, creating a series of visually interconnected symbols representing the different divisions within the organisation. In 2002, a need for thematic communication resulted in a set of communication labels, building upon the original logo.
