Projects for Studio Dumbar in South Korea and Taiwan

19-10-2007

Studio Dumbar has been awarded three prestigious projects in South Korea and Taiwan. In South Korea, Studio Dumbar was selected after an international competition to develop a visual identity for the Woongjin conglomerate. In addition, Studio Dumbar was awarded the government contract for a new design of the entire signage for the South Korean road network. In Taiwan, Studio Dumbar will develop a visual identity for San Wu, an industrial enterprise.

Studio Dumbar was selected after an international competition to develop a visual identity for South Korea’s Woongjin. Woongjin is one of the country’s fastest growing conglomerates and is regarded as a firm with the potential to follow conglomerates such as Samsung, LG and Hyundai in the world market in the future. Woongjin has a strong presence in sectors including kitchen appliances, air and water purification, publishing, book distribution, fruit juices, construction and finance.

In addition, Studio Dumbar was awarded the government contract for a new design of the entire signage for the South Korean road network. This is the first major South Korean government tender in the field of design. Studio Dumbar participated in a consortium with two other agencies.

In Taiwan, Studio Dumbar will develop a visual identity for San Wu, an industrial enterprise. The company manufactures rubber V-belts for engines and conveyor belts used in industrial processes. San Wu is the leading company in Taiwan and exports to 60 countries. The object is a rebranding, including a new name that will enable San Wu to sell more products overseas under its own brand name. This is Studio Dumbar’s second project in Taiwan.

These projects illustrate that Asia is becoming an increasingly important component in Netherlands-based Studio Dumbar’s international portfolio. The agency has been involved in a joint venture in China (Shanghai) since 2006.
