Identity for French yacht race

Dutch agency designs the identity for the yacht race La Transat AG2R LA MONDIALE
After creating the design for the Tour de France team sponsored by the French insurance company AG2R LA MONDIALE, Studio Dumbar has also designed the identity for the yacht race La Transat AG2R LA MONDIALE, funded by the insurance company. It is a surprising identity for the sports and sailing worlds: colourful, versatile and eye-catching.
Paris will host the international water sports fair ‘Salon Nautique’ from 5 to 13 December. AG2R LA MONDIALE will use this opportunity to launch the new style for the yacht race, with an extensive campaign that includes 125 posters measuring up to 4 x 3 metres, which are already displayed in the area around Porte de Versailles in Paris.
The design is a further evolution of the visual identity that Studio Dumbar created earlier this year for the French insurance company. Scintillating colours and shapes are used to create a link to the imagery of water sports. The style is based on the international maritime flags representing the alphabet: a total of 26 different symbols in the 8 colours that feature in the insurance company’s house-style.
A number of these symbols and the AG2R LA MONDIALE logo have been incorporated into the new Transat AG2R LA MONDIALE identity.
The 10th edition of the La Transat AG2R LA MONDIALE yacht race starts on 18 April 2010. The yachts – featuring the new identity – will sail from Concarneau to Saint-Barthélemy.
